Riding experience
PICK THE RIGHT TOUR FOR YOU!
There are three levels of motorcycle riding experience we recognise here at Moto South Africa. Please make sure that the tour which you are interested in, corresponds with your clients' or group's riding ability.See the descriptions below and find the level that matches their ability the closest, then check on the Tour description page whether that specific trip caters for riders of that ability. If you choose a trip which is too challenging for your clients, it may compromise their safety. Even if one rider in your group does not have the skills required, the group will not enjoy the adventure, and it will have an impact on everyone else on the Tour.
RIDING EXPERIENCE LEVELS:
-
Standard - This is the average level of riding ability most regular riders of motorcycles possess. You most likely own your own bike and have a couple of years experience in motorcycling. You are capable of riding safely on all tar roads, at various speed levels. As a rider of STANDARD capability, you do not have sufficient experience on gravel roads.
-
Intermediate - You have been riding for a number of years and are able to ride fast, but safely, on all roads, with varying degrees of gradient and cornering. Should you prefer a Tour with dirt roads, as an INTERMEDIATE rider, you should have suitable experience on all off-road terrain scenarios, with a fair amount of knowledge of how to handle a bike on technical sections such as sand, mud, loose gravel, or shallow river crossings.
-
Advanced - You are an expert on a motorcycle, whether it is on tar roads or gravel. You have ample touring experience and there is nothing that you have not encountered on a bike before.
